Download allowances increased across the board

[link to this post]

Dear Customers,

In response to your requests for more bandwidth, we have increased the
download allowances of all of our packages as from February 1st. Increases
include doubling the download allowances of Home PAYG, Home Starter & Home
Lite, as well as adding large off-peak allowances to all of our MAX
(up-to-8Mbps) services, equating to at least a 3-fold increase. We have also
increased all the peak & off-peak allowances of our ADSL2+ (up-to-24Mbps)
packages - doubling them overall, as follows:

MAX (up-to-8Mbps) packages:

Home PAYG: 2GB peak, 10GB off-peak
Home Lite: 10GB peak, 30GB off-peak
Home Max: 30GB peak, 60GB off-peak
Home SuperMax: 40GB peak, 140GB off-peak

ADSL2+ (up-to-24Mbps) packages:

Home Starter: 4GB peak, 20GB off-peak
Home Plus: 15GB peak, 65GB off-peak
Home Pro: 40GB peak, 140GB off-peak
Home SuperPro: 60GB peak, 300GB off-peak

Business packages:

Business Lite MAX: 40GB
Business Lite ADSL2+: 60GB
Business Priority MAX: 60GB
Business Priority ADSL2+: 120GB

Tim

added by seb on idnet request:
peak: 9am to midnight, off-peak: midnight to 9am.

Good to hear about the increased bandwidth allowances.

However, it would be nice if IdNet wouldn't solely rely on BT. Also, this does nothing to improve the actual local loops which in all too many cases are still poor quality copper wires.

As they would be if IDNet went LLU.

That is generous - but I was hard pushed to max out the allowance on your HomeSuperPro package - are there ppl out there that do in a month?
Don't tell my brother - He's notorious for maxing out monthly bandwidth allowances when he visits (with previous ISP's) - Demon Internet were awful a 50 GB allowance which apparently included upload as well?
But they couldn't explain how they worked it out it was a 30 day rolling system and was impossible to get back below the 50 gb allowance once you passed it and the throttling was tragic...
Anyway thanks very generous indeed!

I only returned to Idnet recently onto the Home Pro package knowing I could most likely move down to the Home Plus package in the near future. These new allowances makes it even easier to do so.

However, this might seem like a silly comment/question, but seeing that these allowances are so generous are IDnet changing their market placement? If so will we be seeing Traffic Shaping or a reduction in service?

Hi Vorlon,

I can assure you that we will not be introducing traffic shaping nor will there be any reduction in service - quite the contrary.

Thanks Tim, that is good to hear smile

I suppose for awhile now I've moved between Idnet and Zen. There was a time when your domestic broadband packages were more or less the same, certainly on price and allowance.
Zen have appeared to stay frozen in time price vs allowance wise whilst your addition of "off peak allowance" on ADSL 2+ drew me back as i think that it's a fantastic feature. Your further generosity widens that allowance gap even moreso hence my curiosity.

We're doing this because we can pass-on the cost savings available to us through our investment in the BT 21CN network and all the extra capacity that is now available to us.

Thankyouverymuch!

Ironically I was just considering the risks of moving to TalkTalk, but this swings the deal.
Expect my phoneline coming across to you soon!
