Sudden Loss Of Everything

[link to this post]

Look, I'm not being trigger happy and running to the internets just because I have a problem, but I spotted the recent outage posts and just wondered if anybody else has just had a sudden dropout about 15 minutes ago.

I had been synced at 6.4 meg for 315 hours, about the same for weeks before that too and all of a sudden, lost the lot and can now only sync back at 3.4 meg. Exchange is NESTN which is probably where the fault lies.

Of course, I've reported this to the proper place but curious, ya know?

Kinda ticked off, anyone playing Black ops will know why and they have just gotten their end sorted today and now mine's mammaries vertical :\

Nothing here Jeff, and (as you know) a loss of sync points to it being your end/exchange rather the network... usual suggestions would be redundant, you probably know them better than I do tongue

They talk about 1st times for everything and bang, lost the lot again and resynced back to where I was again, 6.4 meg!

Loads of jitter on the line though, will just have to ride it out I suppose.

Fingers crossed it'll sort itself out, don't wanna really be going down the route of talking about noise events and AM radios wink

Spoke too soon, lost the lot again and down to 2.3 meg.

Well this is just e****g marvellous.

Oh how wrong Kubrick was with his vision of 2010, he's thinking we would be rescuing stricken spaceships from a Jupitarian orbit, yet in reality, we can't get a wee bit of data shoved thru a wire.

Is there work at your local exchange on the 21CN voice side, Jeff?

Not that I can see Rik.

One would have thought IDNet has looked into that as the official response is that it's my fault.

Yes they did ... but before I tells ya, Simon got onto me feeling a little hard done to by my post above. I didn't understand why but I do now!

I should have said "the official response was that it is A fault"!!

It's true, he cited that it was caused by interference (I'm pleased he didn't say noise event, I hate that term wink) between my socket and the exchange which I can go along with, but I did state in my OP that I thought I would post the problem seeing as there were known problems on the network.

However, driving up the hill about 300 yards from my house, there is a nice big hole in the ground where there was a burst water pipe which probably appeared sometime yesterday and not far from there is the cabinet. Having said that, 5 neighbours do not have a problem.
