According to the IDNet site, I was achieve speeds of 11 mbps if I upgrade. Kitz’s site suggests an IP profile of 17,000 kbps. Which is most reliable? Your only thoughts on likely speeds are welcome. My current stats are in my sig, though my actual line length seems to be approximately 1.4 km.

Sync: Was 8128 / 896 + kbps; now interleaved at 8096/896 kbps
IP Profile 7150 kbps
SNR Margin: 15-11.5 dB
Line Attenuation: 20.0 dB
SpeedTouch 585

does it matter ? it goes as fast as it can at the time so why stress over predictions.

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.

Yes...it matters. I wouldn't bother to buy a new router just to increase speeds from 7 mbps (or above) to 11 mbps. It's worth it for 14 mbps plus.

An ADLS2+ capable router for a tenner or borrow one would advise your purchase decision.

I'm on BE with an attenuation of 24db and I get a 17meg sync. You have an attenuation of 20db, so your line is shorter than mine. I was told mine was between 1200m and 1400m.
That isn't the only factor, but its a big one.
The actual speeds and sync will depend on the service, LLU or BTwholesale etc, and the router.

Thanks for your contribution I'm buying a new router and will forge ahead soon. BTW, the actual length of my line i estimated as about 1.4 km rather a figure just under 1 km "as the crow flies".

Similar to mine then
attenuation 20 sync is 23,000 down 1,400 up
BeUnlimited
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 2,273 / 21,442

you list your router as a speedtouch 565, - dosn't that do adsl2+ ?
as does your voyager 2500

You say in another thread you're on 21CN. Since your sig shows you have a 20db attenuation but a high SNR Margin, then you could already be on ADSL2+ but being slowed down to 8meg due to the product you've purchased from your ISP.

Which exchange is it anyway?
