DNS server is a bit overly flaky today.
across today:
36.3 showing 6.81% fail
40.3 showing 1.92% fail
That's not too usual.
Not too useful either.
Getting periods of a few minutes where it loses everything, then finds it again. Around and around we go. <sigh>

Wondered what was going on this evening, download speeds are reasonable but web surfing seems slow, having to wait seconds for web pages to appear, very odd. DNS seems ok, pinging 36.3 and all seems well. Maybe it's just general congestion, Friday night I don't know but have quite a few dropped packets looking at my BQM.

Evening Bill,
Spoke too soon pinging the DNS 212.69.36.3, timed out for around 2 minutes, great !! Could not even link to your idnetters link.
Ok, ok its back again pinging.
I know, lets just drop our DNS and use 4.2.2.1 as backup !!!

Doesn't seem to be IDNet's DNS... OpenDNS is giving the same, even to a poster with AAISP

Hi Bill, 36.3 is timing out on pings again but 4.2.2.1 is working so I'm going to put that in my router for the time being. See my post on idnetters and screenshot of the two pings running together.
Fun evening again !!

See my post on idnetters and screenshot of the two pings running together. Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on that board too Fun evening again !! They happen
Sometimes they're IDNet's fault, sometimes one of the peers they link with, more usually it's BT
Not sure who this one is down to.

Hi Bill,
Think your right, using new DNS and pages started to time out again, what a pain in the rump ! Lets not talk about BT Please...
When can I go back to Be ... Oh yeh 12 months

I can't see any problems on the BT network but we've been getting a lot of routing updates from AMS-IX in Amsterdam which has been forcing multiple BGP table updates which takes our core routers extra time to process. So we've shut our peering to AMS-IX in the meantime.

It may or may not shed some light on the problem.
