Is anyone finding IDNet's spam "detector" a little too enthusiastic?
I am finding that emails sent by me to at least two other IDNet users are not being received due to very harmless reasons such as blank or spelling mistakes in the subject line, photos attached or inserted in the body of a message. This has been established by looking at their Webmail accounts to find the missing messages classed as 'junk'.
Similarly, I have missed messages until I disabled the spam filter on all my accounts but despite that, very very rarely receive genuine spam. I have suggested to my friends that they do the same! However, genuine emails are now occasionally received with **SPAM*** added to the subject line by some machine!!

See ISP-independent email. ISP free email is a PITA, as it makes migration a mess.

Thanks Bob but that would only solve the issue at my end of the chain. There's no guarantee that IDNet's spam filters would not take a dislike to my domain name and divert my sent ISP-independent mail into a siding, never to be seen again Having said that, on the rare occasions I receive spam, IDNet's machine usually fails to detect and label it as such.
IDNet should issue all users with a free copy of Mailwasher so the recipient can decide what to do with it, delete it or send it back, like I do

If you log in to your account page, select
Email => Existing Addresses from the menu on the left,
then => Message filters
you can turn the spam filters off and handle it yourself.

I'm on IDNet and my email goes nowhere near their spam filters. That's because it doesn't come through their POP3/IMAP server and doesn't go out through their SMTP.
It's fully independent.
Having said that I'd be very surprised if you can't turn off the IDNet spam detector for incoming. Outgoing may be a different matter.

Thanks Bill and Bob! I have already turned the spam filters off, it's persuading others on IDNet to do the same who maybe unaware or unwilling to do the same, try as I may
My other point was that IDNet labels some email as spam when it is not!

My other point was that IDNet labels some email as spam when it is not! Don't all SPAM filters?
Can you set the required score, or apply training? Both Purple Cloud and Tsohost use Spam Assassin which is quite flexible, and I have Norton checking as well and the Thunderbird "Junk training". The combination seems to be working well.

Don't know!

Yes, but not on IDNet's machine

IDNet should issue all users with a free copy of Mailwasher so the recipient can decide what to do with it, delete it or send it back, like I do That is only of any use if Mailwasher works - doesn't for me

Perhaps you haven't set it up correctly

Well, it wouldn't even install on my Linux system
