Many IDNet users, members of IDNetters and ThinkBroadband will be saddened to hear of the death of Rik who died today . He has helped many IDNet users on here with his unfailingly helpful ways.Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this very difficult time.

I haven't kept up with IDNetters as much as perhaps I should... I've known Rik since our CompuServe days, I'll miss him

I haven't logged in here for years, but do post on idnetters often (Niall). Rik was a MASSIVE help to me with my masses of queries over the years with IDnet, and in fact he was recently one of the reasons I decided to upgrade my connection to FTTC with IDnet as I'd miss the banter on the forums from him, and his addiction to the nosh he tried to make us all share a love for!

A genuinely awesome bloke. Friendly, unendingly helpful and the most selfless man I've ever come across in my 20 years of being on the internet.

To say he'll be sadly missed is so far off the mark, I'm not sure what to offer other than I feel so sad for his wife, Sue.

Really sad to hear this. Going back a few years Rik was quite active on these forums and I remember especially his helpful postings in the Windows and Hardware sections of this forum. Always level headed and never once lost his calmness and politeness with anyone. Which is rare on a forum. No doubt he was an even bigger asset to IDNet users on the IDNetters forum and everyone who participated on there, which I can imagine would be numbers in the thousands.

Very sad news indeed. RIP.
