Mine went out (South Oxon) at the same time, came back just after 7:00am.

I didn't get up until 7:30 so wasn't really a problem, but I haven't seen an outage that long for a long while...

IDNet are on it now:
Our engineers are currently investigating a network outage at present. Further details will be provided shortly.

In most cases, if your router is currently offline, powering down for 5 minutes and then back on again should bring the connection back online.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Could have been a backhaul issue as they seem to have only just discovered it.

I was just about to report that downdetector were showing "no problems", but did a quick check before commiting the post and it seems to be down again for some frown

FTTC, rural Northumberland.

ThinkBroadband Quality Monitor shows a blip just after midnight with a red spike for packet loss, a total outage for about 10 minutes at about 06:45 and another blip at about 08:20.

Looks like they might be being affected by a Zen Wholesale outage.

FTTC here too. My BQM went solid red just after midnight and stayed that way until just after 7am- My Broadband Ping.

I had a brief blip a couple of days ago, after which the BQM latency went from it's usual ~8mS to it's current level. It usually means Zen have been playing with their routing again, it usually goes back to normal after a while (days to weeks) and isn't an issue for my usage pattern so I rarely report it.

I'm using iDNet as a backup connection, but can confirm I saw the same downtime as everyone else.

Interestingly, since it came back at 7:15am this morning, my minimum latency has nearly doubled:

It seems to still being affecting my connection (although it's still up and speed is normal)- I use IDNet's RSS to keep an eye on usage; according to that I've only used ~20MB since midnight. Considering I've been streaming a live webcam since about 8am this seems unlikely!

eta- The RSS usage feed has caught up to about where I'd expect it to be... not that it matters, I only monitor it out of curiosity smile

Downdetector isn't showing any issues since about 9:30 which is promising, but the numbers are so small anyway that it's not statistically conclusive... fingers crossed 🤞

Wholesale suppliers advised of an issue over night within their network. They have since applied a fix to resolve the fault.

I don't have a specific time today but this is the second Tuesday in a row.

Last time the router showed that TX / RX for the Internet was stuck at 0 but otherwise it thought it was still connected so was not triggering any automatic reconnection. I don't know the correct terminology except that people sometimes talk about a PPP session "going stale".

Similar sort of report to make.

For starters the IPv6 IP for my laptop has also been changing on a regular almost daily basis over the last couple of weeks. The IP for the router has remained fixed.

Monitoring the IPv4 connection the BQM is showing:

Tue 22/10/24. Short disconnection (~ 1 min) at about 02:30
Wed 23/10/24. Blip at about 00:30. Full block of red ~02:50 - 06:50 although session did not drop.
Sat 26/10/24. Blip at about 02:05

Haven't bothered saying anything to IDNet as I can't really be bothered to recycle the power on the router etc. etc.

Does your router allow "LCP keepalives" to be enabled? That should detect a stale session, and then the router should tear it down and start a fresh one.

Thanks I'll check - it is FTTP (which were also affected) but think it is still PPP
