Thought i would share my story for anyone else in the application process
First applied in june 2016 but after doing the online assesment received an email saying that applications had been temporarily suspended and if i was still interested to basically hang on and go about my buisness.Received an email at start of february 2017 inviting me to do video interview, this replaced the phone interview stage as of 2017,its strange as you are answering questions in a sort of facetime/skype situation but you are in the small box in right hand corner aswell.Got through that and was invited to my assesment in Leeds on 19/04/17,200 mile round trip and £17 to park as no parking, but well worth it as contacted on 21/04/17 with job offer.Assesment not too bad its quite rapid and theres no time to dwell really, afteer the initial talk from the recruiter guy you are split into groups and all go and do the various tasks. My first one was the maths and english tests,2 40 min tests on a laptop, start off quite easy and get progressively harder, apparantley there is no pass/fail its just to determine your levels in both subjects.Out of those, quick toilet break and onto the wiring of the plug.Done it loads of times but somehow when you are being watched and theres a time limit, the plug somehow turns into a bomb and your hands are at 6's and 7's!!!All i cna say is do it the way it states on the card and remember to put your safety glasses on as its all about following instructions!!I was straight out of there and into my first 30 minute interview, ask you 3 questions and for you to give examples of certain things you have done in your life. Was out of that one and quick drink of water and then into next interview with slightly different questions,no point listing them as everyone has different questions. Then massive relief as it was all over, the quickest 5 hours ever.Must admit the whole process was interesting and if you dont get through it will be a good interview experience.Anyway start my training in yarnfield on 15th may and after 20 years in construction,i cant wait.
