Openreach Trainee Engineer Assessment

[link to this post]

Hi all, looking for some advice, last week I received an email purporting to be from openreach inviting me to a group presentation and 2 interviews to be conducted over Microsoft teams and to confirm if I would attend. Of course was my reply, so date set for 10th December. Awesome after nearly a year some movement. But then today I received no less than 3 emails requesting my right to work info. First one wanted my driving license including the code you get from the dvla to confirm it. Second one the same except this time it was from a named openreach field manager(which was later recalled) Then the final one looking for passport AND driving licence (without code)All the while looking nowhere near as professional as previous emails. So now I'm really dubious as to the authenticity of said emails but would hate to miss the chance if they are genuine. Sorry for the wall of text ill post images if the emails if that helps.

Reply to my confirmation -

Hi there,

Thank you for applying for the trainee engineer role.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions on face to face meetings and travel, we are going to do things slightly differently to enable us to fill our trainee engineer vacancies. We will be running Virtual Assessment Centres instead. Our intention is to utilise a video call platform and conduct video interviews.

Using video calls during your assessment session will allow us to perform a presentation and conduct the two interviews via video link.

We would therefore like to invite you to join us on Microsoft Teams for a Video interview.

Date 10/12/2020

You will need to be available from 8.00 a.m. to 15.00 p.m.

1st invite – 8am – Admin and Presentation

2nd invite – Suitability interview – Anytime between 0930 and 1500

3rd invite – Capability interview - Anytime between 0930 and 1500

A separate meeting invitation will follow with the dial in details for your interview session. Please ensure you dial in 10mins before the session starts.

What do I need to do before the day?

Set up Teams as per instruction at the bottom of this email. It’s important that this is done before the day to avoid any delays or issues.  It’s important as we need to confirm your identify via video. If we can’t confirm your identity then we will not be able to interview you.

Refresh your memory of the job and what a trainee engineer role entails by checking out the careers page and watching the attached videos (link below)

http://www.btplc.com/Careercentre/careersatbt/openre...

Take the opportunity to find out more about Openreach by reading through the information on the Openreach web site (link below.)

https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/index.do

What does the assessment centre consist of?

Your session will include:

· A presentation by an Openreach manager to discuss the role, about your assessment and what happens next.

· Two interviews to explore your strengths, capabilities and suitability to join Openreach as a Trainee Engineer.

Ensure that on the day you:

· Have a good / stable internet connection

· In a quiet room / place you won’t be easily disturbed.

· You have the following forms of identification available to show your assessor

1.      Passport (if non EU with Biometric Residence Permit (both sides)

If no passport then your Birth Certificate and National Insurance Number

2.      Manual Driving Licence (photo card)

3.      Proof of Address (A letter with your address with the date. Dated within 3 months)

What should I wear?

Although you will be partaking in a virtual video interview please ensure you wear suitable attire.

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Good luck and we look forward to speaking to you.

**Instructions for Microsoft Teams **

In preparation for your video interview you will need to complete the following steps.

1. Go to the App store on your device and download the Microsoft Teams app.

2. 10 minutes prior to your presentation and interviews open the relevant email invitation.

3. Click on the link that says join Microsoft Teams meeting.

4. Select Join as Guest.

5. Enter your full name in the box and select to enter the call.

6. If you get a message advising you (someone in the meeting will let you in soon) please be patient as the call has not yet been opened. You will soon be admitted into the relevant call. When the call is opened you will hear the presenter/ interviewer and see his name appear on screen along with some icons, select the video icon to enable video only in the interviews (Please note that the video aspect is not required during the initial presentation).

7. If you experience any technical issues or the call drops then please re-join following the steps above.

8 At the end of the call select ‘Close’ to exit the meeting once instructed to.

 Kind regards,

Zina

This is the latest one

Good Afternoon,

We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to the Virtual Interview Assessment Hub on Thursday 10th December 2020

Due to the current COVID situation and to ensure we adhere to all the safety guidelines it is necessary to conduct the Assessment Hub virtually.

We will invite you to attend a Microsoft Teams presentation at the start of the day (08:00), this is where we will explain the role, set the scene and will explain how your Assessment Hub will be completed, answering any questions or queries you may have.

You will also receive in due course two separate calendar Microsoft Teams invites from the interviewing managers to attend your virtual Microsoft Teams video interviews. This is providing we have all your right to work documentation checked and signed off.

During those Microsoft Teams video interviews you will be asked to show the interviewer your right to work documents which are being requested to be provided below.

Therefore, prior to your virtual assessment hub can you please reply to this email with your right to work documents. These need to be of a high-quality photograph.

Please take care when taking your photographs, we need clear images. These are best taken with the camera flash turned OFF and taken on a flat surface, ensuring that the WHOLE document is visible and legible. Be careful not to block any of the information with your fingers please.

The documents need to be sent to: [email protected]

with the following as the Subject Line: 1 Trainee Engineer – 10th December 2020 (DPW)

**PLEASE NOTE**

The documents need to be received by no later than 1700hrs on Thursday 3rd December 2020.

Top Tip try a bit of blu tack to hold them in place for taking the picture 😊

Your UK or EU/EEC passport, both pages. (Picture to include photograph and signature details.)

cid:[email protected]

If your passport is a non UK or EEC/EU we require your Passport from country of issue and your Residence/Permit to work card. Please note we need the front cover of the passport. (Picture to include photograph and signature details.)

cid:[email protected]

If you DO NOT have a passport you will need to send a copy of your birth certificate and proof of your National Insurance Number (For example, NI Card, a letter from HRMC showing your NI number such as a payslip/P45/P60).

cid:[email protected]

A driving licence. If you do not have a driving licence we require a utility bill with your correct address. A further email will be sent to request your driver licence details and onetime check code.

cid:[email protected]

If your driving licence has an old address on it, then an alternative proof of address document (such as utility bill / bank statement, dated within the last 3 months, we cannot accept a mobile telephone bill) will need to be sent as well.

cid:[email protected]

NOTE – If you do NOT have one of the above photographic proof of identity then please contact us on the email address below to discuss the options.

As a reminder;

The documents need to be sent to: [email protected]

with the following as the Subject Line: 1 Trainee Engineer – 10th December 2020 (DPW)

**PLEASE NOTE**

The documents need to be received by no later than 1700hrs on Thursday 3rd December 2020.

We have had in excess of 80,000 people apply to join Openreach this year, we will only send you 1 additional reminder email for your documents that are either outstanding or do not meet the above criteria.

Therefore, failure to follow the instructions above and complete by the requested date will result in your application being withdrawn, as you will NOT be able to attend the Virtual Assessment Hub.

For all queries and questions contact the Recruitment Advisor who initially contacted you regarding the Virtual Assessment Hub.

Many thanks, we’re looking forward to welcoming you on your Virtual Assessment Hub.

Regards

Unfortunately the pics and highlighted areas haven't copied but all the lines with asterisks were highlighted and pics included examples of passport (Mr beans) an actual drivers license with no redaction and a British gas bill from 2014.

Seems legit if it came from those address’s but in these times, on can never be sure. Should I get similar emails I shall confirm with openreach recruitment if this is correct.

Good luck friend. May the force be with you.
