Memory upgrade

Having got some more memory from Crucial now I'm trying to pluck up courage to put it in .

I seem to remember that somewhere on the internet there is a Site with an enormous number of PDFs of all sorts of things to do with 'doing' things to your Mac - eg , memory upgrades , hard drive replacements etc etc

I cannot remember what it's called and so far my Google hunt has let me down .

Anyone know what I'm talking about ?

I don't know if this is the site that you are thinking of, but it certainly has quite a few articles about upgrading Macs.

There are several youtube videos showing the task. Its very easy to install provided you have the right cross-head screwdriver, possibly from a jeweller's set.

It really is a very easy task. Sometimes you have to push quite hard to properly insert and seat the replacement RAM. I have 2x2gb installed in my C2D 2.2ghz. This is because I often run other operating systems in Parallels.

It also said exactly what screwdrivers etc were needed and where you could buy them .

To do the memory upgrade it would say you needed 2 PDFs 1) battery removal /replacement and 2) memory removal and replacement .

Every job was like this including huge pics for folk with fading elderly sight and in colour .

Defcom - thanks had got that one too and found the Video on YouTube - which did really concern me as it showed what seemed to be a fair amount of brute force / strength being used to get the new module competely seated.

My snag is that I don't have much strength in my fingers and my husband's now is even less than mine I have memories of real struggles undong screws on the old G3 iBook when we were removing bits from it .

It's only a single PDF, but this one from Apple looks pretty comprehensive.

Thanks - that should do nicely it's much better that the one in the teeny MacBook manual that they hand out with the machine

Here's hoping we can manage it - there is the reminder there that a fair degree of force may be needed .

The beastie was up and running quickly once we got on with it - 2 person job - one to hold and support the MacBook for the other to do the job , the 3 screws holding the L shaped bar thingy were difficult to shift for 2 sets of weak hands but a pair of pliers to grip the screwdiriver did the trick . Absolutely trouble free seating the new RAM modules .

If we can do it - anyone can , and at Crucial prices you would be silly to get Apple to do it

Now try it with a Mac Mini!
