iTunes Radio

[link to this post]

I enjoy the diversity offered by iTunes radio but I am extremely frustrated by continuous drop out. It's impossible to listen to. Streaming music stored on my hard disk via Airport Express works fine. Any ideas?

Is there a dashboard widget that will cater for your needs? I know there's one for the BBC stations, but beyond that I don't know.

Have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps

It may not be relevant, but I had a lot of trouble trying to use an AEX and AppleTV simultaneously (gory details here).

To save you the bother of reading it all, I couldn't use the AEX if I was streaming a movie to the ATV, and with much help from bosie we eventually isolated it to some sort of oddity in my 3Com router. I haven't cured it, I just live with it frown

It could be the same sort of thing- the router doesn't like connecting to iTunes radio whilst streaming to the AEX.

Is it OK on the internal speakers?

Re: iTunes Radio FURTHER PROBLEMS

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Apple Support suggested I update iTunes to the latest version to solve my intermittent iTunes radio streaming problem. I've now lost the ability to stream any music (stored or radio) via my Airport Express with this error message appearing in iTunes "unknown error -15000, unable to connect to remote speakers". Apple Support after an hour at level 2 support have now given up and sent the problem to an engineer and will contact me when someone can figure this out....... If anyone out there has any ideas on what I can try in the meantime I would be extremely grateful.

The house is awfully quiet, not necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks

"unknown error -15000, unable to connect to remote speakers"
That's exactly the same message I get if trying to connect to the AEX whilst streaming a video to the Apple TV... maybe it isn't my router after all crazy.

Please let us know if anything useful transpires.

The only advice that I have seen is to restart AEX which is rather a windows solution.

Easiest way I've found is to stop (not pause) the video stream, start the AEX stream then replay the video selecting 'resume' rather 'start again'... irritating, but at least it works crazy

Apple Support say they'll contact me next week after they hear from their engineers. At this point I'm reticent about doing anything but logic says to download a previous version of iTunes and see if the problem is solved. Whatever transpires I'll post the response.

Re: iTunes Radio - Apple's Solution

Grateful that someone in tech support keeps up with notices otherwise this would never have been solved. Simple and obvious and too easy to overlook. Hope this helps.
