Beware laugh

Not installed it yet but picked this comment up from another MacBoard

Had to laugh, on another forum, a user innocently clicked on the "Top Sites" feature in Safari 4 and was greeted by 12 glorious technicolor snapshots of porn sites he's visited!

So, watch out for that potential pitfall. A bit of selective editing of your bookmarks may be required first!

This may ...... or may not ...... be totally accurate laugh

Sounds fascinating: javascript 3 times faster than firefox, 30 times IE7, HTML 5, CSS3, CSS Effects and once again the first browser to pass the Acid test, this time v3.

I must say I miss the progress bar in the address field. There's very little feedback to show that it's taken any notice of a click on a link on a slow site. I have the status display showing at the bottom of the window, and I have to look down there to see if anything's happening, but not everyone is going to have that display, and it's not nearly as immediate an indicator as the blue bar was. I wonder if there's a hidden preference to enable it again?

Some company's beta software is more reliable than other's commercial offerings, and some behaves more like early alpha- I've had no experience with Apple betas, what are they usually like?

To restore the blue progress bar. open Terminal and type these 2 commands.

defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4IncludeToolbarRedesign -bool NO

defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSafari4LoadProgressStyle -bool NO

I'll wait until they have finalized the new release. Safari does not do a whole lot for me, and is generally my secondary browser that is used occasionally. Unless it is a whole lot better than Firefox, it probably will remain so.

Nice, will definitely be keeping that one too, prefer the progress bar to the spinning ball. From a Macbook Air perspective I like tabs which are not now taking up screen real estate although it's not as pretty.
