How much hdd space left

I'm thinking of getting a mackbook air with 80GB drive, can anyone tell me how much will be left after leopard is installed.

Just Leopard or with iLife as well?

80GB will format to less than 80GB. I'd guestimate about 60-65GB left.

80Gb? - That's pretty small isn't it?

well finances will only stretch to that with a 1.6 processor or a 1.8 with 64GB ssd.

You'd get more for your money with a Macbook, pretty much the same hardware anyway.

I've told them that, but the person its for wants an air, have even let them borrow my macbook, but they still want a air. Was hoping the lack of HD space would swing it but apparently not.

The current Rev B Air comes with either 120GB HDD or 128GB SSD; are you buying the earlier Rev A model? Apple recommends 9GB of free disk space to install Leopard. For this relatively small sized processor 1.6/1.8 you ideally want to be looking at SSD which will improve the UI experience quite noticeably. I have the 1.8 SSD Rev B model which very quickly became the most frequently used Mac in the house and due to its light weight accompanies me to work every day along with O2's mobile dongle. The Air's screen is better than the Macbook's, but I was surprised to find the built-in iSight camera is lower res which makes it extremely grainy in all but the brightest of light. In all honesty, I'm completely enamoured with the Air and will probably buy the Rev C after it. The Air finally brought some definition to the way I use my laptops, for the first time a truly portable Mac.

Yep i think your right about being Rev A, its in the refurb store and its been ordered. Thank you everyone for your input, i will have a look over it when it arrives then i will know if its worth it when i need to order one, if they are still about then.
