I installed on my MacBook Pro earlier. It was a big update 449MB via software update. Two restarts as part of the upgrade, all seems to be working fine now. If you are running Safari 4 Public Beta you'll need to run software update again to get the latest Safari 4 Public Beta (it needs another restart).

Beware - - have a look at Apple discussion boards.
It seems OK on the iMac (considerably quicker) but having niggles with the Macbook - it's beggared iCal for a start!

Installed with no problems noticed and no problems with iCal which I use extensively. Everything is just as I left it.

I solved my problems by dragging Library/Updates/index.plist to the desktop and then downloading and running the combo update which is here if anyone else needs it.

I don't think it was just your net connection. I tried to update last night as well. Download started three or four times, slowed to a crawl. It, or I, aborted the process each time. So I left it until this morning and it downloaded no problems.

Re: 10.5.7 and ssh problems

[re: Desmond] [link to this post]

10.5.7 has completely borked the ssh client on this Mac Mini.

I can't even connect to localhost after the password has been accepted. Debug shows authentication succeeds and the server tries to establish X-forwarding but everything then hangs.

I can still connect from remotely to the sshd running on the Mac Mini and if I use Mindterm ssh applet I can still connect out from the Mini to other servers. It seems to be just the SSH client on the Mini that's broken.

Some poking around shows that I have two ssh binaries - 'which ssh' tells me the default is in /usr/bin

/usr/bin/ssh -v; OpenSSH_5.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7l 28 Sep 2006

I also have a different version in /usr/local/bin which I can use to make client connections;

/usr/local/bin/ssh -v; OpenSSH_5.0p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8i 15 Sep 2008

In other words, an older version of OpenSSH but with a newer version of OpenSSL.

I'm going to have to do some more poking about to find out what isn't working and why.

Has anyone else had ssh problems?

Sarah

There are two restarts because it includes a Kernel update.

10.5.7 update applied ...

I have no problem with ssh localhost or ssh 127.0.0.1. I can also ssh to localhost using another login.

After the update ssh with X-forwarding is working fine on my PPC Mac Mini (connecting to a Fedora 9 server). ssh to the Mac Mini also works.

I get the same version of ssh in /usr/bin as you do, but don't have another version in /usr/local/bin.

No, when I did get the notice (last week) there were no problems, this was something else and apparently randomly affected people across the country.

If that was a follow up to my message about early problems downloading the update, it wasn't just across this country. Apple's servers had problems that were reported globally.
