ADSL2 and Airport Extreme

[link to this post]

Any advice for the following questions would be gratefully appreciated.

1. Recently IDNET, have begun offering an ADSL2 service. Everything that I have read recently questions whether there is actually a speed performance increase. In fact some articles even suggest a slowing down. Can anyone shed more light on this and is there any other advantage to upgrading to ADSL2?

2. My router / modem is " ancient" and not ADSL2 compliant so a new purchase is necessary. Is the Airport Extreme worth the extra money and if so what modem would be recommended to partner it?

Many thanks for any one who takes the time to respond.

The speed performance is noticible depending on your distance from the exchange. If you do go for an Airport Extreme, I would recommend a Draytek Vigor 120.
