New 2G 15" MBP

[link to this post]

I had a momentary lapse of control at lunchtime and walked out of the Applestore with a 2G Unibody 2.8GHz 15" MBP. It's currently transferring my settings from my old 15" MBP, can't wait to play with it tonight when it's all done!

I suffer from the same problem so I'm avoiding Regent Street.

Just as well I have to drive 40 miles to get to the nearest Apple Store. However, the Apple Online Store is just a bookmark away

Have a good excuse, parents need a laptop so there goes the old one, generosity has rewards smile Dilema is MBA or 13" pro, firewire is very useful to me but so is weight, hmmmm

The Air is thin and light, but the footprint is still that of a 13" machine when it comes to portability. By comparison my Dell Mini 9 is far more portable and just as functional in many if not most respects when I'm on the go. Before now I have actually lost the Mini in the bottom of my rucksack. I doubt I'd lose a 13" machine in it It (Air or otherwise). The Mini also boots in seconds (I can't understand why an Air takes so much longer when it clearly has the superior SSD and it's booting the same OS natively).

Has to be an Apple though 'cos I need Logic. Air is amazing for what you can run on it, exceeds my expectations. I don't notice it tucked away in my sac but a few more pounds in weight to have FireWire just might swing it, depends on the chip used and audio compatibility - indecision, indecision! Be interesting to see if SL starts up faster than the current 25-30 secs I get on 10.5
