New Battery for G4 iBook

[link to this post]

After 5 years service the G4 iBook battery needs frequent charging, so it seems time to replace it.
Any good or bad experiences with replacement batteries from Apple UK or other suppliers?

Thanks for that supplier info.

But what I was really asking for were reports of recent good or bad experience with Apple and other cheaper suppliers of laptop batteries.
For example, there are reports of batteries on new Apple laptops lasting only 2 years.
Are the cheaper alternatives even worse?

In my experience all laptop batteries tend to go down hill rapidly after they reach the 2 year mark and it really doesn't matter whether they are from the original supplier or a third party. Apple claim those in the new MacBooks are better, but we're not talking about those.

Bought new battery from
http://www.global-batteries.co.uk/product_info.php/p...
cost £52 inc post.

'Genuine' battery from Apple
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/M9338G/A?mco=NDg0N...
would have cost £87 inc post.

Battery from GLOBAL seems OK except that very slow to charge, even after several full cycles.
But worst feature is the 'charging' light on connection lead goes green even at 40% full.
The lamp seems to go green to orange and back at random, and this may be why charging is slow.
Eventually [ overnight] it does struggle to 100%.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a cure?

Get one cheap. PPC Mac laptops are on borrowed time as it is. When Snow Leopard comes out PPC will no longer be supported.

Adobe are dropping PPC support too.
