Spotify

[link to this post]

I downloaded Spotify last week and have just started to enjoy access to free music. However, a Hi FI friend of mine warned me that Spotify uses bittorrent and of the potential risks associated with it. How safe or unsafe is it to use a sight such as Spotify and are Mac's any less susceptible to thjis.

Thanks

I don't think there are any issues with the technology as such, it's just that bit-torrent sites are often suspect (sharing illegal material and/or hosting malware). I'm not aware of any security risks of Spotify itself. (In a technical sense, that is - there was a problem with accounts being hacked which could have compromised credit card details. If you only use the free version that is no concern to you.) Did your friend specify what the potential risks were?
