Someone I know who could best be described as technologically severely retarded bought himself a MacBook when visiting Singapore a good while back . The OS was installed on it then , whilst in Singapore .
Now he has a problem and we need urgent help with his password.
He has just been given his very first printer [ this is after a year +/- without one !!] and he can't install it - for why ??
he has no idea what his overall/universal password is
Now can anyone suggest how we can reset his password for him - bearing in mind it's all going to have to be done by e-mail to him .
Once we have sorted out that then we will see what can be done to err ummm educate him a wee bittie

Hopefully he has the installation CD...
If he boots from it, there should be a "Reset Admin Password" option available. I think it's on the Disk Utilities menu, but not at home atm so can't check.
hth.

Guys you are wonderful - but then we all know that.
Now we have the next problem that unless anyone lives in Dublin ,and would volunteer a wee bit of help , is going to be equally tricky
We now need to find someone there to go and physically do the job
AND having done that [ install the printer for him ] go and update his MacBook as I'll guarantee , that since he got it it's never been updated

Alternatively, there's an Apple store in Dublin- http://store.apple.com/ie
Not sure where it is though.

Oh well - glad it's not me doing it No chance of him shipping it over to you? Might be a lot less aggro (and possibly quicker) than trying to do it remotely
I thought of suggesting he sets up a remote login for you, but then remembered your comment about his technical expertise

According to the Apple site there is an Apple User Group in Dublin
see
http://www.apple.com/usergroups/find/
I would think that your contact would be able to get some help thru them.
