Rapport bank security software

[link to this post]

Has anyone tried Rapport bank security software on their mac? A few banks offer it as a free download (eg, A&L, NatWest). I read some reports of it being a memory and CPU hog on PCs, but wondering whether it is any better on a mac.

Thanks for bringing this up. When I checked a few months ago, there was no Mac compatible version as far as I could tell, so I have ignored it ever since. I see there is now a Mac version, so I've downloaded it. I'll see how it goes.

[EDIT] Well, so far so good. There's a rapportd daemon running accrrding to Activity Monitor, and it's using 35.3 MBytes real memory and 2.4% of one CPU core. Can't see that causing many problems.

Yes, I was pretty surprised to see a mac version. I nearly didn't bother looking, as I was so sure it would be Windows only. Thanks for the initial feedback.

I had problems with Rapport for Mac - OSX 10.4 - once I installed it I couldn't switch between accounts without the system hanging - I'm not reinstalling until I hear something better!!

I have had nothing but problems with Rapport. It does not seem to work in a multi-user set up - particularly when one of the users is "file-vaulted".

Quite a few issues with the Mac version reported here.

And it seems the claims made to promote Rapport may be based on a suspect methodology, as reported here.

I have been using for over a month on a Mac Pro with no problems.
No performance hit at all.
It does come with an uninstall script if you need to uninstall.
I have not needed to do so. Working fine so far.
I go to a lot of financial sites because I take care of my mothers stuff as well. If fact I got the Rapport security software at Bank of America site. But it seems to work at all the sites.

The fan on my MacBook Air was going into overdrive, and it turned out Rapport was taking 83% of CPU and running the battery down. Open Activity Monitor and sort by CPU usage to see if this is causing a problem. Force quit it if it is. I will be removing Rapport if this problem persists.

Just had exactly the same issue on my Macbook Pro. Fan going nuts, legs on fire and Rapport grabbing 83% CPU on my wife's user account, even though I was logged in on my account and the browser and e-mail were completely shut down on both accounts. It really is pants.

I've been using it on Snow Leopard for well over a year with absolutely no problems. Runs fine with my two main Scottish banks and will report previous usage of my banking password if I try to use the same one, or even part of it, elsewhere. Does not seem to be a memory/CPU hog as reported by my monitoring systems. Bear in mind that for online banking YOU are responsible for your access codes. I would certainly not rely on some third party software to do it for you. I change all my codes bi-weekly and only use a wired connection.

I would never use banking access codes on a wireless, public access point or iPad/iPhone dial up connection.

I've not tried Rapport on my Lion systems yet. Have to admit I quite like Lion. All my main apps, Photoshop/LightRoom and, dare I say it, MS Office 2011 are all buzzing along nicely.

'Natural Scrolling' is a bit weird though. Turning the Magic TrackPad upside down works but it does not feel right. Removing the tick box in 'System Preferences' works betterwink
