MacBook to monitor, help please!

[link to this post]

Hi folks,

I've plugged my MacBook directly into my computer monitor via the mini adaptor to DVI and there is nothing coming up on the monitor?

I had unplugged the [erm] PC [/erm] and swapped it directly, but no matter what I do, the monitor just says 'Check signal cable HDMI'.

I tried Apple > System Preferences > Display > Detect Displays...

It had said at the top of the window the monitor model, but it didn't show up on anything but the Mac?

Any idea on the cause, and maybe how to resolve the problem?

TIA.

Is the mirror option checked in the display prefs? If so then the monitor may be unable to display the same resolution as the MacBook is using.

Thanks for that Des.

I tried all that but to no avail. I know what it is now though. I hadn't switched the blinking Mac off first. crazy

I had taken the laptop through to the bedroom to try it on the TV, and I immediately saw the wallpaper, and that was all.

After ticking 'mirror', it all showed up on the 37" screen..

I am majorly impressed! This is good!! grin

Played a bit of a DVD to test it. Apart from only having the Mac audio, it was spot on!! grin

I'm loving the Mac just a little bit more. My friend was taken aback with it too. Impressive!

*guesty puts the remaining exclamation marks away. ok, one more! grin
