Not a surprise after the very late Apple + 3 iPad introduction.

I bought the 3 SIM for the iPad. The download speed is pretty good compared to O2 Micro SIM - 3Mbps vs 0.8Mbps. Upload speed doesn't appear to take advantage of the HSUPA in the area. My pet complaint against O2 at the moment is image compression which I was pleased to find not present on 3. Also there doesn't appear to be a proxy server on 3 so sites like BBC HTML5 iPlayer work properly. The only snag I found is the sign up process - try spelling your name name and address and bank details over the phone to a non UK based call centre - the whole process took 30 minutes.

3 SIM for iPad

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

I went for a 12gb prepaid SIM from eBay for my iPad. It was easy to cut down with a pair of scissors.

O2 quotas

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

500, 750 or 1GB quotas on new contracts.

They're really screwing up, all the other networks will follow too. It's stupid how they can't plan ahead.

So much for unlimited data.

I think planning ahead is exactly what they are doing...

But it's not the right type of planning ahead.

The right type takes time. In the meantime they have to maintain a service.

All because of a minority of users. I don't see why they can't boot these users, they are obviously tethering without the bolt on.

The reluctance to boot is touched on in the article I linked to.
