Yeah, mine was about that.
No problems with the update.
Using Safari 5 now. No huge changes that's I've noticed, but Reader is kinda nice, and you get the option of Bing, Yahoo!, and Google search engines...

First update I've done that didn't go smoothly
Got to the stage where the "Installing 2 items" box should have come up (I hadn't updated Safari) and it just sat there spinning the little spokey wheel thing.
Left it while I updated the Macbook, that went fine so I forced a shutdown/restart, tried again and it seems to have gone properly, didn't even have to re-download the update files.
The desktop (wallpaper) settings for the second monitor went AWOL somewhere along the way though. I've noticed this once or twice before, sometimes an update doesn't get the second monitor settings right.
It hadn't had a reboot for just over two months, could this have caused the problem? Bit of file or memory corruption somewhere maybe?

Did the Combo - had already done Safari.
Went fine. One thing: Mail gets sufficient an update to warrant a database rebuilt.
I have found that updates are very poor at calculating their time remaining (especially the last minute, which can go on for ages - lasted 30-40 mins when I put Leopard on my PPC mini), so sometime patience is the way forward.
Since SL I have got into the habit of using the Combo.

maybe you didn't update last time and the other release has been combined. I find that is the case when you first buy a Mac and have to update from the factory firmware to the most recent release.

I've never found anything on the Mac that is particularly good at forecasting how long it will take
I normally do give an update plenty of time, but when it was still hanging after I'd waited 10 minutes, booted up the MacBook, downloaded the files, done the update, shut it down again and waited another ten minutes, I decided the iMac didn't want to play!
The problem was that the update never got started, the shutdown didn't progress to the point where the file processing began. I'm pretty sure that a simple restart, without involving updates, would also have failed.

I couldn't get it to go either. In the end I had to repair permissions, which took an age, (should have done it in the first place) then it went fine, and installed Ok.
However "About this Mac' and 'System software overview' still shows the OS to be 10.5.8!
Searching software update confirms that 10.6.4 must be installed as it says my software is up to date.
Right old mess.

That is messy
Might be a problem if you try to install something that wants later than 10.5.8, no real idea what to suggest. Short of starting again from the installation DVD and re-updating
