Hard drive data recovery companies

A colleague has had a hard drive go into click mode and fail to boot the Mac book - unfortunately he does not have a recent back up and needs to get to the data on the apparently dead drive. If he cannot do a Target Mode boot to access the data from another machine can you recommend a data recovery company - preferably in the UK

I've never used them personally, so not a recommendation, exactly.

But I remembered of old that "Vogon" were a big name in the field of data recovery.

Be careful, booting the computer is only going to cause more damage if the hard drive is clicking, and it is highly unlikely target disk mode is going to work if the HDD has failed.

Professional data recovery isn't a sure thing, and the cost can run into hundreds or even thousands. Be careful who you choose to do it, as it is very easy for the data to be damaged more.

E.g, just connecting the drive to another computer as a secondary drive and trying to copy data could well destroy the lot.
