It is available - in the USofA, except they call it the iPhone 4 [S] over there? grin

iphone 5 failed the internal apple marketing test for brand loyalty, coming so soon after the iphone4 launch. The name & version number were changed to the 4S instead to extend the products lifecycle

Good idea, but prolly incorrect.

Look at the iP3, and the various models that followed that - the 3Gs was my personal fave. for shape etc.

Oh, well. laugh

Wasn't the iPhone 3GS the same shape as the 3G?

I agree, it so happens my other 1/2 bought me a 3g ( no s), so now I am stuck with a non upgradable iphone 3G. On the other hand a "friend" of mine has an iphone 4s +1 version on test. You could have called this an iphone 6, but I will not. Do not want to get the apple police onto me. Its possibly now going to be an iphone 5. We will see next year. smile

Identical apart from the colour of the printed writing on the back panel.

Amazingly the 3GS is still being sold. I assume due to the low-spec Android's out there.

Nicely nicely - the 3's were the perfect size and shape for cases that actually could be held easily with pinched thumb and finger.

I miss it, but never mind.

GL w/ip6, I'm busy testing the iPad 4. wink

Yes, but better.

And it was called the 3G[s], or 3Gs.

..I would go on more, but it just gets too sad. Sure, we kissed, but doesn't everyone have a real first proper mobile moment?
Hey, she said she was 3, and was upped to a 3G, then 3Gs, but she was a perfect 10 for me, man..

I was suckered into the 4, and all it's extras - I can skype face2face on it, yeah, but that's only ONE of the excellent features, darn it - I just don't like its shape - if only the 3 had all of 4's features. Oh yes, but only if it had the smashing extra features like my (soon-to-own) iPhone 4 s...that I saw on my rocket-powered MacBook Pro... gawd, I am living my life in the world created by Steve Jobs [RIP], I only have to change to Buddhism and that would indeed be me... Guest_Steven...>"says Steven as he listens to music on iTunes, whilst merrily typing away on the superbly beautiful back-lit keyboard."

Too tired now, I have typed just a wee bit too much this morning. Yawn.

Ok, who was it that owes ME a £tenner for NOT being Steve Jobs...smirk

...or was it that I owed HIM for emulating him...

Never mind. Will set alarm to remember to phone BG in the morning to see if he.. ahm, never mind.. wink

I expect it'll appear in about 6 months. If I had an iPhone 4, there's no way I'd upgrade.

The new IOS5 is really great too.

They have added lots of nice features and improved all of the little niggles I had before.

Firstly, hello Grumps (NOT even/just a clever nametongue).

And yes, it is indeed an iPhone - An Apple one too, hence the beautiful/sleek/feature-rich...etc etc. wink

No, no contract here - it's SIM-free too.

All good. grin

You'll enjoy it Guest_Again smile

I've spent the last couple of days upgrading Mac OS X to 10.7.2 on five Macs and putting IOS 5 on my iPad 2 and iPod Touch. A completely painless operation, albeit a tad slow due to the enormous demand on Apple's servers. I also updated a couple of ATV2s.

Having closely followed the Apple Communities it looked like a process that would be fraught with problems! However, I always remember that only people with problems post, and there were plenty of them.

My SIM free iPhone 4S arrived this morning and it was a simple migration from my 3G. I used a SIM cutter to chop my original SIM to size.

I like the new feature in IOS 5 and Siri is rather fun. Unfortunately iCloud is unstable due to load but will hopefully settle down. It has some really nice features.

Looking forward to getting my new iPhone - it's going to take around 2 weeks for it to arrive, but no problem there, it gives me a wee bit longer to sell my iPhone 4.

Not tried IOS5 yet, but I will shortly. Very tempting. wink

Will be good when I get my iPhone 4s - who doesn't like new, shinier toys..///..iPhones from Apple, hmm..?! wink

The upgrades were done here earlier, and it was fast enough.

Won't have to trim the SIM from a '4' phone, thankfully. At least Siri will talk to me if no-one else does. laugh
