Got me a Macbook Pro today

We are already a house full of Apple kit, what with a 24" iMac, 2 Apple TVs, an iPad 1, a 160GB iPod classic and an iPhone 4.

I have the 2.6 Ghz i7 8GB version. They didn't have the new retina screen in stock and the omission of a optical drive was a problem for me anyway.

So far its been on for about 90 minutes and its barely even warm. My Windows 7 Laptop would be very warm by now...

Enjoy - I have last years 2.0 GHz i7 with 8GB.

I got a MBP yesterday as well but the retina one.

Can't say I've missed the optical drive on this or my macbook air.
I didn't know when I got my Air 6 months ago, but you can boot from the network straight from Apple's servers. (Hold down Command-R then power on - Apple-Link)
I did this last time to reinstall Lion without needing any media, just a wifi connection.

I used it for about 13 hours yesterday before it needed a charge.

The other factor was that the retina MBP does not allow for memory upgrades. All the parts are soldered in so cannot be changed. My MBP has 8Gb RAM but it can be upgraded to 16. retina cannot.

I did think about that.
I was going to get the 16gb model from Apple, but with a 4 week lead time I decided I couldn't be bothered waiting.

Anyway, not being able to upgrade the ram is a good excuse to buy a new one next year!
