Nah.... I'm seriously underwhelmed. I have a 4S and had every variant except the 3GS.
God I think my 'must have Apple' days have ended.... My wallet will be better for sure... lol!

Slimmer, lighter, and bigger screen. They all make it tempting for me but I agree that there aren't any killer features. It looks as though pretty much everything will be available in iOS6 on the 4S.
The iPhone 5 starts at £529 on the Apple store and I could sell my 4S for £250.

Nah.... not worthwhile. I see no significant reason to upgrade.
I also have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and this is a much better phone by far comparing it to the 4S. I suspect that the S3 would stack up nicely against the I5

Nice upgrade for a nice phone but nothing exciting.

Agree. For some strange reason I am qquite surprised by Apple.... It just seems like a distinct lack of innovation on their part. The elaborate launches are all just a tad too tedious now too.

Not tempted.
Even though I've had all generations of the iPhone I'm going Samsung.
Three iMacs, an MBP and two MBAs, all current. Obviously an Apple fan but this one is not for me.

Yeah, innovation is on the slow down since old Steve died.
I will be getting one though. I migrated from the 4S (lovely phone) to the Samsung Galaxy Note and have been disappointed with both the build quality, performance, and OS.

The 4G support is a difficult one for me, as need a 4G phone, so which handset.
Also need a mixture of devices for testing.

A nice we hands on demo here, mostly showing the speed increase of the new phone:

I've already gone Samsung for my main phone... the fantastic S3... Yup it's not perfect but I love the ability to break free from Apples walled garden...... The i4S is no match for the S3.
I am an Apple dude through and through... with two mac minis, an imac, a mac pro and a mac book pro... but I can't get with i5...

I'll be getting one. Apple products aren't always the most advanced or cutting edge (let's not forget that the first iPhone didn't do 3G) but there tends to be a very good mix of simplicity, features, and style that other manufacturers struggle to match.
Also, being an iPad and MacBook owner, iCloud links everything together rather neatly and provides an incentive to keep everything Apple.
In terms of "Apple innovation" - what are we expecting? The only product I'd criticise is AppleTV, which seems to be developing slowly, if at all, but everything else (phones, laptops, desktops, tablets) seems to be developing nicely and making use of the latest technology.

Readers might find this little bit of willy-waving informative:

But apparently Apple aren't innovating...
I smell the blood of a troll (not you xela).

A6 chip (faster graphics, cpu)
4" display
Thinner
Lighter
Lightening (accessories, reversible)
Wideband audio (20 carriers but no details yet?)
Enhanced audio (3 mics, noise cancelling, better speakers)
Improved camera (faster photo capture, better low-light performance and improved noise reduction)
Improved battery life
WiFi 802.11n
LTE (EE)
DC-HSDPA (EE, O2)
Did I miss anything? Seems like a solid update to me so I'm up for it.

You forgot to knock it and suggest an "alternative", this being a thread in the Apple forum with a subject of iPhone 5...
Now, where do I order?

Apple store currently being updated (since around 5am) so im thinking soon

Go for it......

The prices on contract are lower than I'd expected but I've gone for SIM free anyway - it still works out a bit cheaper in the long run and I have more flexibility.

Well, they seem to be flying off the shelfs rather quickly.
I tried to order one just after 8am with a delivery date of 21st September, however, could not follow it through as had to be somewhere else, so ordered when I got home and now delivery within 1-2 weeks....

Will you be able to ask Siri to search for UK businesses... Apple did say that the 4S was going to offer that and were wrong.
Sorely tempted to order or just buy one - 4" screen amongst other things was nice. I LOVE Apple but like others i'm not overly too impressed with the Keynote on it, I may even wait for the updated version next year.
Steven.

IOS 6 sorts Siri.
|
|
|
Yup, iOS 6 and Siri work now. I'm happy with my 4S (and am trying to save a house deposit, so skipping the iPhone 5) so glad to see the 4S basically gets all the software changes the iPhone 5 has - means an investment a year ago (bought outright) lasts longer in terms of 'the latest shiny things'.
I have seen the geekbench results for the iPhone 5 that shows it's faster with dual-core, 1GB than the S3's quad-core and 2GB. That's the advantage of controlling all the hardware and software in the end - you can optimise everything. I expect if I used the 5 for any period of time I might find the 4S sluggish... so I'm going to avoid doing that as I'm happy enough with the speed of the 4S.
Looking forward to the 5S.

Bought an AppleTV too. All good.
IOS6 is being released for iPhone <5 on the 19th. Sweet.
