Animating gifs

I have an ordered sequence of images which I would like to convert to an animation. What software would I need to do this?
The images are in gif format, but could easily be converted to png etc.

Googling will find quite a few (including PhotoShop, which I assume is a bit OTT ), but a free one here:

Thanks, Bill. I did a fair bit of fiddling with stuff I found via Google, but it all seems to be aimed at the web.

GIFfun works fine, but for the web. What I'm looking for, and I should have specified, is something that will produce maybe a QuickTime movie from a set of stills.

Ah, OK... you could import them as an image sequence into QuickTime 7 Pro and save as .mov, it'll cost you £20 from the Apple store, but it's a useful program.

(You need QuickTime 7 Player first, then buy the upgrade code)

I use QT 7 Pro quite a bit, mainly for tidying up TV programmes recorded on the PVR to import into iTunes.

Removing channel headers and tailers, and the commercials if it's not BBC, is a piece of cake
