YAHOO MAIL

For reasons linked to running YAHOO Groups I would like to continue with a YAHOO MAIL account.
YAHOO are pushing users onto a new Mail version and one of the options given below [ IMAP ] may be suitable.
Needless to say the link they give to 'Instructions .. for using IMAP ' does not work.

Is it possible to use Apple Mail 1.2.5 (v553) to access the new YAHOO Mail via IMAP?

Are you talking here about BT Yahoo a/c's?

I have Yahoo (not BT) email a/c's which I read via POP3 and they're not pushing me.

Any mail client worth its salt (except Win8 LOL!) can access Yahoo mailboxes using either POP3 or IMAP.

I believe Win8 can use IMAP.

I believe Win8 can use IMAP.

But not POP3 out of the box you need to go and get a third party mail client.

MS just has a rude message when you try and configure POP3 on win8.

That's a really old version.

I use Win 7 and Outlook 2010 for my Yahoo Mail and like XRaySpeX I have not been pushed onto a new Yahoo Mail version.
I use POP3 with the following settings without any problems;
The usual Your Name, E-mail address
POP3
pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
User Name your email address without @yahoo.co.uk
Password xxxxxxx
More Settings General tab whatever you name your account
Outgoing server tab My outgoing serve (SMTP) requires authentication
Use same settings as my incoming server
Connection tab Use Connect using my LAN
Advanced tab Incoming server (POP3): 995
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
Outgoing server (SMTP): 25
Use the following type of encrypted connection None
Leave a copy of messages on the server
