iPad email query

It seems that some, at least, emails are only shown when connected to a WiFi network. By this i mean an email that you've read, and then later want to read again but at that time are not WiFi connected. Similarly an attachment.

Is this deliberate?

I realise that storage limitations may make this a sensible option, but IMO it should be possible to save an email and/or attachment locally. Indeed is it so possible?

Surely every one of those is storing it elsewhere in the Cloud, not on the iPad itself?

Don't know. Some emails are around when there's no WiFi, other emails are not.
