Security & Privacy bug High Sierra Beta

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone would be able to help with this issue that I'm having?

Basically, there's a bug in Security & Privacy, that doesn't allow me to correctly install third-party AV apps, such as Avast or Sophos, (I haven't tried any others) despite the fact that I have enabled the "Install from anywhere" radio button via the termindal command sudo spctl --master-disable [password]

Clicking on the "Allow" button in the bottom right has no effect whatsoever and the software remains blocked even after a restart.

I'm currently running OSX High Sierra Beta 5, although this bug has been there since Beta 4.

I have submitted a bug report to Apple (I'm in their beta software program) and was wondering if anyone else would be able to replicate this fault, or if not, give me advice moving forward?

Only advice I can give is to switch back to the main High Sierra releases.

Thanks for your reply. I'm hesitant to do this right now, as I don't have any TM backups, so would have to roll back as a fresh install, which would mean losing a lot of data, but I'll bear it in mind as an option down the line.

So to be clear, you have loads of largely redundant AV software, but inadequate backup? You need to review your data integrity processes.

You run a beta OS without any form of backup? Your data can't be very important to you.

It is trivially easy to set up a Time Machine backup. Do it before you do anything else. Fact of life - hard disks (including SSDs) all fail eventually.

I have the files that I deem to be important backed up to a NAS drive, but the files that I don't have backed up (EG itunes libraries and the like) are the ones that I'd lose in the event of a complete, "ground-up" reinstall.

I'm still getting this bug on the update i done 2 days ago

Thanks for the report. In a way, I'm glad that it's not just me experiencing this issue, although I have, so far, held off installing the latest update.
