Photoshop Elements 2021

I was looking at getting the latest Photoshop Elements 2021 and note that although it works with Mojave and Catalina, Adobe say it needs 6th Generation intel processor.

I have a late 2013 iMac which I believe has a 4th Generation Intel processor. Does this mean it will not work?

I can understand it not working on older operating systems but I have never come across a Mac software that specifies a processor before.

Have I misunderstood something here?

What is the exact wording? Does it say *requires* or something like *best with*?

The 6th Generation processors introduced a few instructions that weren't present on earlier processors, and it may be that the software uses some of these. In particular, I would think that the MPX instructions are a likely candidate.

Adobe certainly seem to insist that you need 6th Gen, but you could always download the trial version to test it on your machine.

It does say it's a system requirement.

I can't instal Big Sur on the iMac anyway but can on a MacBook 2015. However that also has either 4th or 5th generation processor.

Just by way of an update I have now installed Photoshop elements 2021 on both my iMac and MacBook Pro and it seems to be working fine on both.

I haven't yet notices anything that does not work.
