3G signal repeater/amplifier

Hi

I'm getting tired of poor 3G signal in my flat and I'm tempted to install a signal repeater/amplifier in the metre cupboard.

Has anyone used these and where is a good place to buy?

With the outside directional(?) antenna pointed at a mast that has all the providers on should mean a boost for all networks ... I'm hoping. If I do this is there anything I need to be aware of? Are they legal?

I'm not going to worry about what the management company will say, they probably wouldn't notice as long a I can run the rf cable in where the Sky/TV/FM cables come in and nick power off the same circuit as the TV distribution system. This would put the repeater up on the 3rd floor in the meter cupboard, so will the boosted signal reach me 2 floors below?

make your own mind up but as i read all the ofcom advice they are ilegal unless supplied by the network companies (only the sure signal type adsl 3g hotspots are allowed)

Switching networks in the near future is the only real legal option

5km are you with o2 for mobile?

They have 2 trials running but both solutions use your adsl

One is an equivelent of sure signal and the other is a voip solution.

On the o2 customer forums both are being discussed in the same thread

search for connect on the o2 forums or boosters (boostbox) several threads or google them the o2connect option has an o2blog entry

Thanks. I found the discussion on the o2 forum once I knew what to search for.

Used to be on O2 but moved because O2 was more expensive and their 3G coverage is the worst.

I'm on Three.

Maybe I'll have to wait until 4G or switch network when my contract is up in December.
