3 in place of fixed broadband?

[link to this post]

Hi does anyone know if its possible or has experience using the one plan for £25 a month then use the sim in a usb modem (or router that has 3g support) - this would then be equal to a fixed line unlimited but mobile broadband right?

Would the speed be normal HSPA or HSPA+

I'm not sure if I'd get it instead of my fixed connection, but below is my home broadband vs three

Be there:

Three UK 3G:

The 3G connection is actually faster than my fixed broadband, and it's incredibly smooth for gaming on. I get around 30ish ping in-game, which is higher than the fixed broadband, but it's perfectly adequate.

I will be forced to do the 3 mobile broadband thing in a couple of months when we move into the middle of nowhere. ADSL at 2MB/sec or HSPA at 10MB/sec?
Seems like no choice as bonded is too expensive. Hopefully 3 will go 4G in next 12 months so will be able to get even faster connection.

(I Netflix all day long and have used 165GB so far this month)
[censored] me we're only on day 7 of this month and you've already done that. I hope Three cut you off.

I know we're not on about EE but if Three use the 1800Mhz band they are buying from the T-Mobile+Orange merger then the same phones will work. Yes if there are different models with different cellular chipsets this makes it all very confusing.

So there is a limit. Which no doubt Three will lower if you and others abuse the service.

The "limit" of 1TB is defined by 3 as if you were to run the connection 24/7 and that would be the maximum amount of data you could physically use in one month.

I assume it has been put in there as a definate to point at if somebody wanted to complain about how much they could download.

at £31 per month it is comparable with the price of BT broadband for their unlmited package.

Don't get hung up on 4G/LTE coming along, Three are rolling out DC-HSPA+ support over the next few months, which in real world tests is producing similar if not better speeds than EE's LTE.

Try and get an Android phone with contract such as a Nexus 4; which has DC-HSPDA support. DC-HSPDA from what I've seen is phenomenal (especially on rural sites which have less contention across them).

The iPhone 5 also supports it but it's probably overkill just to use as a 'MiFi' style device.
