EE Double Speed results...

Hi All

Anyone on EE with the "double speed" tariff and in a double speed area? If so can you post some test results using the speedtest.net app selecting the Maidstone (Custodian) server in the following format:-

Location, Date/Time, Download speed, Upload speed, Phone make + model

Please ensure you're on LTE before testing, I'm not interested in 3G results.

I think double speed has gone as a price plan. The idea was single speed rate limited you to 30mbps max. I have a phone plan that is before double speed, and a tablet plan from January claiming to support double speed. At Heathrow last week which is a 20mhz area (double speed) I was able to get 9meg download. Same in Nottingham last weekend. At home in a 10mhz single speed area I've seen 15mbps.

So as you can see its a marketing mistake to separate them, which I suspect is why since the website was relaunched I can't see much mention of double speed anymore.

The reason for asking is because I probably need to drive to a location that I could actually see 30~60Mbps to test for work.

I wonder what O2's 4G speed is? A very rural mast near me has been enabled and I doubt it'll have much contention as O2 have very low usage limits and it probably covers just 300 homes.

I'm in Kent ... there is no Three 4G here.

They only have 10mhz of spectrum, both EE and Voda have 20mhz - but both Voda and O2 have a lot less customers than EE, so you should see good high speeds. 50meg plus. I see 45meg plus at 1am.

Shame that "double speed" is still sold, because it sounds like a recipe for disaster with the ASA.

So at 800mhz ee has 10mhz 3 has 10mhz and voda 20mhz so on 800 o2 and voda will have the best capacity and range etc others have more in the 1800mhz and 2600mhz range but that is best for local provision

But EE already have more masts at 1800mhz 2G (from the 1990s) than VO2 have for their 900mhz 2G - so in the end EE's huge 1800mhz holding could be very interesting.

Give it 3 years

More masts at 1800mhz due to its poor in building penetration / range o2 and voda 900mhz travels further and penetrartes buildings better hence the 800mhz 4g is even better for in building penetration
