Not sure if this impacts me as I'm on a 200 minute unlimited texts and data plan.

Its the end on the one plan which offered unlimted data on the the phone and unlimted tethering.

please keep it factual.
The are NOT ending unlimited calls and data.
They are ending unlimited tethering as long as your handset is capable of reporting it.
stop scaremongering please.

unlimited data on the phone is still a feature of numerous price plans that three offer!!!!!

please keep it factual. [chuckle] - and the same to you. Assuming the linked article is correct. That doesn't mention it only being tethering. It is apparently about a legacy package that they are withdrawing from existing customers who are on it.
Whether or not they are ending unlimited tethering on other products I wouldn't know.

Yes they are. Unsustainable usage quoted and three have been making this change for past 18 months, it's just a big group of people just got their letters as they're out of contract.
Mobile airwaves aren't suitable for terabytes of usage a month.

The One plan was £17/month according to the BBC article, I know they have a £15/month option for unlimited data, so what is the fuss over?

£15 plan being phased out as well (as are the £13, £11 prices that plan used to be)
I'm on 200 mins, unlimited text and data and this now bumps to £23 I think. Confirmed by CS but no text yet. I'm away at the moment so don't know about a letter.

You can't have unlimited tethering anymore. People were using Three phones to connect the whole house over WiFi and using hundreds and hundreds of GB's of data a month.

I'm okay with that. I have 4GB Tethering but it's the bump from £15-£23 for my 200 mins and unlimited phone data

Some of the outrage is over the sudden notification, on relatively short notice, that they'll be doubling your bill unless you act otherwise.
They could have given a longer notice period, moved you to a plan that suits your actual usage instead of the most expensive one, etc.
The timing is poor too. 3's 4G network is not very good, even if you have 800MHz 4G in your area, you need one of a handful of phones to have any chance of using it (and the priorities are set such that you won't go onto it if you can get any 3G signal at all). They should beef up the network and then announce a price rise. But doing it this way is just going to drive more people away

4G seems to work well here (well the speed anyway not the coverage) even 3G is normally ok/good
i am on a £25 The One Plan (with a rolling monthly £5 and £2 discount so £18 paying) so be interesting when i get my letter (20GB tops as i tend to forget to turn ON wifi as its norm that fast i forget that i not got wifi on)
i thought i would of lost my plan last year when the contract ran out,, not that i abuse it at all 99% of my stuff is mobile use(twitch/youtube+minor data things)
for me if they did drop the One plan they be losing £3 a month as i would just get the AYCE data (200 talk) plan for £15 a month (or lose me completely it's their choice) as the second phone i have is for backup/fun phone, tethering is not important (nor does my phone report it any way)

(nor does my phone report it any way)
Three can detect it network side anyway.

yes but they only traffic shape the data (don't count it towards your tethering limit if you have one, example PAYG AYCE) if the phone reports it to three they can 100% log that data use as tethering and block it or set it to your tethering data allowance (a lot of people who are on AYCE on PAYG are unaware they not allowed to tether, but seem fine with lowest speed priority

The end of tethering well i'm screwed
i used around 50-70GB per month
i got texts now blocking me from tethering now once i went past 12GB
.....so what can i do theres no network i can change to which offers the same.

Can't you use WiFi broadband instead of 3G/4G for this high usage?

Funny ttb speedtest in your sig .
As for having 80/20 FTTC and 70GB tethering, I can only conclude you are being humorous .

EE offers it, you just have to pay for it.
Three's package wasnt viable, in every big city I have used it in, its congested to very extreme levels.
