My broadband order ran into complications and won't have broadband for a week while I'm at my new flat (Thanks BT.) Just wondered if anyone knew a cheap SIM card I could quickly pick up for 3G and tethering? I have an old spare smartphone lying around I can use for it. 2-3GB should be fine.
Wasn't sure about those 1 month sim only deals, don't want the hassle of cancelling if it ends up being difficult. Thanks!

PAYG on any of the networks. £10 is 1GB on EE, Three, Vodafone that I know of - and there were some EE 6GB SIMs on Amazon (old stock).

I would look for the best signal. Three don't allow tethering on PAYG but I have managed. I assume that on PAYG the worst they will do is stop the Sim.

worth a look at giffgaff and a goody bag,
4GB data valid for a month £15
and tethering is allowed on these.
edit:
three also do some prepay sims that allow tethering.

Three forbid tethering in their T&C but it still works. You can get a free SIM and then try for yourself by attempting to sign up and pay the £10.

Three also do data SIMs on PAYG as well as voice SIMs. Data SIMs have 1GB for £10 or 30 days whichever you hit first. Might be a 250mb and 500mb options as well.

The new "data reward" SIMs don't seem to have an expiry. I have one - the 200MB you get for free each month has an expiry date, but not the initial 1GB that you get with the SIM.
You also get the 1p/MB rate if you don't buy an addon (not cheap if you're a heavy user, but useful for people who use it as a backup to a wired connection.

Thats not a thing anymore i don't think?
All(most) plans come with tethering data allowance now.

PAYG no tethering allowed, but works at lowest QOS priority (you get what is left over) when you use a mobile device that does not report to 3 that your tethering but the DPI picks up you Might be tethering (3 prefers to slow down people then block it out right as DPI tethering tection is not perfect and you can lose customers over an incorrect detection)
most of the contracts on 3 have tethering (as far as i know all of them do) 30GB now as well witch is All tetherable (most likely what i am going to switch my plan to it as i use it as backup for when a company's internet dies, 12GB would of not been enough)
