Mast sharing with Home Office Emergency Services Network

We have recently had a mast built within our area (mobile not-spot) with funding by the Scottish S4Gi project but also part funded by the Home Office ESN project

The mast will be shared between both the ESN and 'normal' mobile phone users and operated by EE

Has anyone experience of this infrastructure sharing approach?

How will it affect 4G broadband speeds?

The area is very remote with no more than 50 premises within reach but could transform our broadband access as we only get 0,5m connection from BT lines (Exchange activate issue)

I'd like to set expectations on whether 50mb+ connections could be possible with 4G LTE

I don't believe mast sharing will have any bearing. They will be using different frequencies and probably different backhaul so all it is doing is sharing the cost of building and maintaining masts. The speed will be entirely dependent on what backhaul EE install and what frequency ranges they use.

Because the physical mast installation was paid for using public money, the mast has to be open to all the networks to add their service. EE will always be there because they operate the ESN, but EE will install both their normal commercial service and the ESN on the mast.

So you should find good EE signal, and then other companies (Vodafone, O2, Three) are allowed to add their signal in time.

Actually ESN is using the standard 4G frequencies that EE have (800mhz=Band 20, 1800mhz=Band3, 2600mhz=Band7) but ensuring Emergency Services have priority. Backhaul is easily prioritised.
