Use of 4g temporarily, what is cost to reconnect phone line?

[link to this post]

Hi,

My fixed line speeds are limited to about 20mbps down and 5mbps up on fttc.

I have a 3 sim and testing from my phone I have seen in speed tests 60mbps down and 20mbps up - even running tests at busy times I get considerably higher speeds than via the land line.

I am therefore thinking of switching to 4g mobile broadband until higher fixed line speeds are available. If I were to cancel my phone line service do you incur the full £140 connection fee at a later date?

No idea but I ported my old BT number to voip and this cancelled the line but I get a dual tone if I plug a phone in, just can't dial out.

Dont forget you get a £8 line rental deduction if you have no broadband on the line.
If they do charge the £140 fee then you need to work out if it cheaper to keep it at the reduced rate. Depends when you think it will get faster.

I believe if you use another provider (e.g. Pulse8, TalkTalk etc) they can reconnect an openreach line for a lot less than BT retail charge.

I would expect you to have to pay a re-connection fee which should be much less and may vary by supplier.

If you shop around, you'll pay less or possibly nothing at all.

Reactivating an existing line can often be done for free.
