Cat 9 and above 4g Routers

[link to this post]

I am looking for a router that does 64 QAM which I believe means it needs to be at least a Cat 9.

I also want to be able to fix bands in case auto selection isnt very good.

I so far found just 1 router .

https://www.wifi-stock.co.uk/details/mikrotik-home-a...

Any one got any other suggestions?

I dont mind a huawei although I do like the idea that with the Mikrotik above I wouldnt need to rely on a 3rd party app to the do the band fixing etc.

Grateful for thoughts!

avoid the mikrotik - it runs on ros7 beta. plenty of huawei ones out there but not cheap

Huawei 5G CPE Pro (£300+)
HUAWEI B818-263 (£200+)
B715s-23c is cat9 (£180)

lots of people on 'ltefix' forum who are building their own too.

Whats the issue with the version 7 then ? Appreciate it’s beta but it appears stable from the mikrotik forums ?

Before you spend money, if you have a recent phone, check the speeds you get with that outdoors with the same SIM / network. It will tell you if there is any point upgrading until you see a change in your local mast.

This is LTE category 11, but without an external dock it has no ethernet port.

This is LTE category 16, capable of 4 band CA, and 4x4 MIMO.

This is LTE category 20, capable of 5 band CA, and 4x4 MIMO

Just don't get the NETGEAR Nighthawk M2, its almost £400 and does not do 5g!

Its all well and good producing a brilliant spec'd 4g router but who'd purchase this knowing in a couple of years how outdated it will be???

The Nighthawk M5 is announced, not yet seen on sale, with 5G support:

I asked TP link if the MR600 does 64QAM.

They said “ Hi, We just received feedback from our HQs team that "Yes, the QAM modulation supported by the MR600 is 64QAM"
Hope this helps. ”
