Anyone using Asda Mobile - Is 4G limited to 2/10/150?

[link to this post]

Is anyone using Asda Mobile for unlimited data?

Does anyone know if the packages they sell are only limited to 2/10/150 if using 5G and are not restricted when using 4G or is the speed limited regardless of 3G/4G/5G?

So if I am not bothered about 5G I can sign up for the 2Mb speed option and still get full speed on 4G and not be limited to 2Mb?

https://mobile.asda.com/bundles/unlimited

Thanks

The speed will be limited no matter what technology delivers it - you are buying a maximum 2Mbps package - the type of network delivery makes no difference.

There's something badly wrong with that offer! What is the point of 2Mbps on anything, never mind 5G?

Quite apart from it actually says "up to" 2mbps, not even 2Mbps. Assuming the latter, and the full 2Mbps, browsing a web-site like the BBC (or even this site), could be rather a tiring process.

Never mind gmail.

Edit: And it's £20pm after three months (at most).
Edit 2:
Live dates from 03.11.2021 to 19.02.2022 – the promo will run for a period of 3 months
If a customer purchases a recurring unlimited bundle from promotion start date, they will get x3 months unlimited. If a customer purchases it a week before end date, it will run for just x1 calendar month.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.

The same thought went through my mind - if you are willing to buy 2Mbps then I would say get a standard package with a data allowance as chances are you aren't going to be able to sensibly use the connection anyway.

Asda is now hosted on Vodafone and these three speeds are standard Vodafone offerings for unlimited.

For example Vodafone's site:
* £22/month (discounted for 6 months) is unlimited data at 2 mbps
* £26/month (discounted for 6 months) is unlimited data at 10 mbps
* £30/month (discounted for 6 months) is no speed limit

Or you can buy a data allowance, which doesn't have speed restrictions.

It makes no sense to me, but if you watch a lot of video on a small phone screen on a train / bus etc then perhaps the 2mbps unlimited data is worthwhile??

Nice bit of wishful thinking there!

The speed caps apply regardless of 3G/4G/5G.

Those prices are awful, even EE makes it look terrible and EE have a rep of been the most expensive.

2mbps dont even consider, 10mbps gives a measly £4 discount not worth considering.

£30 the only one worth considering but is pretty high for sim only. Ask yourself do you really need unlimited, is peace of mind worth it for paying more? I would look at other providers who sell capped usage products.

As you replied to me, I happen to agree and have capped (very high) services from two providers each of which is faster and cheaper than the Vodafone £30/month offer.
