EE unlimited data - any fair usage policy, throttling, etc?

[link to this post]

Hi.

I’m looking to switch to EE, as Vodafone max speeds and reliability have really gone down hill recently. Probably get a ‘phone’ SIM rather than mobile broadband package as they are obviously a lot cheaper.

We are reasonably heavy users, 1 - 2tb per month. How are EE with this, any issues?

I think thats not "heavy" that is extremely heavy for mobile data. Do you have no choice for any fixed line? I thought EE had a FUP of 1tb ?

Go EE Business, cheaper with a better FUP and you don't have to be a business, just tell them you will be breaking the consumer limit of 12 devices being connected so you need a business tariff. 2tb may be a bit much though even for Business FUP.

According to the FAQ - https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/offers-and-services/o...

... there are no caps or speed restrictions or throttling "as long as the data is for personal use" but I do remember being informed when I took my SIM out about three years ago that 1Tb a month was considered fair use with 2Tb being "of concern".

From the current TOS - 4GEE and 5GEE Home plans...

"Unlimited Plans

Unlimited Plans are for personal, non-commercial use only. We will consider usage above 1000GB/month to be non-personal use and have the right to apply traffic management controls to deprioritise your mobile traffic during busy periods or to move you to a business plan."

It is also mentioned in TOS - Pay Monthly Phone Plans except the limit there is only 600Gb a month.

It might be, but when you have household of 2 adults and three teenagers, who watch a lot of Netflix and game a lot etc, it’s very easy to use over 1tb a month.

Oh its understandable usage for the household, just not for a single mobile data connection, hence my query about fixed line.

Is this a cost-saving issue or your only option?

Bandwidth is much more scarce per user than a fixed line provider. If consistent performance if your primary concern, you may find mobile broadband frustrating long term.

What are you going to put the phone SIM in? A phone or a router?

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.
