If you're using a 4G Router, it by inference has a 4G modem in it.
You might be able to use a generic router and a 4G USB Stick (modem) in some cases, so it depends.

What broadband do you use (ie FTTC, FTTP, 4G, etc) - presuming it is 4G as you have posted in the mobile broadband forum but you may have posted in the wrong forum?

What provider are you with?

What router do you currently have?

Broadly speaking, a modem allows you to connect one device to the internet, whereas a router allows multiple devices to share a single connection (which is provided to it by a modem).

The answer to your question really depends on what you're trying to do; a single device can use a modem to connect to the internet, but to allow multiple devices to share that connection you'll need a router a well.

The complication is that often the words "modem" and "router" are (mis)used interchangeably, and that often a router will have an integral modem, combining both functions.

This is one of those "simple but once you are in .5% category it gets messy".

For most households, you will either be using a mobile modem, dsl modem inside a router, a cable modem inside router or an ONT which converts light to Ethernet!. There is also satellite.

The question you asked, is not constructed very well and is open to misinterpretation - which I and others who have replied are doing .

Seems it's working fine with your existing set up.
