Three not in my area?

[link to this post]

Anyone other than three offering a package or failing that can anyone recommend a router and a SIM to replace my Vodafone FTTP please?

I got the same here for almost 6 months now. The website never metion when? Also Three won't know when? You can check coverage map on Three if it say 5G is live mean home broadband is available but if it say 5G is available (not live) then home broadband not ready!

Thanks.

Websites seem to get less and less user friendly. frown

This usually means you're not directly covered by one of the new Three street poles, so you're on the older 4G network which has a LOT less capacity.

The other networks often don't like home broadband usage levels, if you look at their "unlimited" plans they can have quite low usage limits compared to fixed line.

You should find out whom covers you, use their own websites, O2, Three, EE, Vodafone as there are only the 4 physical networks. If you can't get 5G from Three, then unlikely from EE, but you might from the others. 5G is still in early rollout in the UK, and many towns don't yet have any coverage.

4G mobile broadband is not really an alternative to an FTTC line in any built up area.

I get exactly the same answer for my address, nevertheless, I bought a Three branded 4G router (MF286D) on eBay, got a Three SIM card and are getting decent speeds of around 20 Mbps up and down. I have to say that I placed the router in the attic and moved it around until I had a good signal, so maybe the Three coverage checker assumes a worst case with the router on the ground floor.

Useful info: thanks.

Not sure I want to get a router on the off chance but maybe.
