3internet APN

[link to this post]

I have a three business sim and I have set it to use the 3internet APN but I keep getting given a CGNAT address.

I had heard that IPV6 may cause issues in getting a public IP, so I asked that it be disabled. I was not getting issued an IPV6 address any way.

I am still getting issued a CGNAT 10.x address all of the time. I have tried talking to three support but they keep claiming that a public IP is impossible.

Any suggestions on how to proceeded? I would prefer not to have to use a VPS / VPN to bypass this nonsense, as using the 3internet APN was kind of the reason I went with three in the first place.

I am using the 3internet APN (with a phone SIM, non-business) and have no problems getting a public IP address. I did select APN Type "IPv4 only", I had it on "IPv4v6" before but that stopped working about a year ago but never got a CGNAT address.

I have the sim in a Mikrotik router up a pole and the only IP it ever seems to get is 10.x
if Leave it on auto it works but if I enable IPV6 it fails to get any address.

I have changed between three.co.uk and 3internet and the addresses will swap between different address ranges in the 10.x IP addresses.

I have another customer like you who has a pay as you go 3 sim and it just works for him fine,

I am some what at a loss. Three do not make it easy to speak to somebody who is in the UK or seems to know what they are doing.

Anybody know of any phone numbers or email address that will get through to a UK support team?

You may have to try the SIM in a phone or MiFi device to see if that gets a public IP. If it does, then the other end may be querying the device the SIM is in, not recognising, and putting you on CGNAT.

No idea on support, but Three has always used off shore call centres.

I think I managed to fix it today. It looks as if the Mikrotik software has an option to take what ever APN the network offers you. If this is active any APN you select is simply ignored.
