Using USB and Ethernet simultaneously

I have a Beetel 220BX modem based on Broadcom BCM96338 chipset. I want to know if there is a way to use both connection simultaneously on a single PC so that I could get double the bandwidth.

I can make two separate internet connections
1) Ethernet : broadband connection using WAN PPPoE adapter
2) USB : Dialup connection using USN DSL router network adapter.

Windows cannot TEAM two connections and uses the first connection made.

Your ethernet bandwidth is very likely 100 Mbps. Possibly only 10 Mbps, possibly 1 Gbps.

Your USB connection is at least 12 Mbps, if USB 1.1, and up to 480 Mbps if USB 2.0.

Your WAN connection is what? - something up to 8 Mbps? So it is the bottleneck, despite how many connections you make to the modem. Even if it's ADSL 2+, up to 24 Mbps, it is still slower than either regular fast ethernet or USB 2.0.

I can't see any advantage in having both connections to the modem.

Bandwidth is 256 on both ends, ie on WAN and USB. That's why I want 'em combined hehe

But your WAN bandwidth is shared between the available LAN connections - ethernet and USB in this case. There is only one WAN connection.

I presume you're on a long line, hence the low speed? If so the quality of the connection over the phone line is the limiting factor. It will only go as fast as it can go.

If I make a dial-on-demand connection thru ethernet and a dialup connection thru USB I get two different IP's on each. Both adapters have different MAC's (Obviously). Only thing I need is a bridge which can TEAM these two connections.

A long line? No, this is what ISP supplies here branding as broadband, simply its a joke. Quality of connection is certainly not a factor cuz they provide 128K/256K/512K/1, 2, 5 MBPS connections over same lines. But all the plans above 256 come with download limits (10-50 GB per month). And that is the reason I'm looking for this simultaneous connectivity.

Would it help if I post Iptable or routing configuration?

The UK system doesn't support multiple connections, so there won't be many on this forum with first-hand experience of your kind of system.

Ppl here use bonding to utilise 2 lines at once, but that requires support from the ISP. Otherwise I guess you're looking for a load balancer kind of thing.

I'm sure a suitably set-up Linux box could do this too.

My ISP supports multiple connections BUT doesn't provide any 'support' for it hehe. SO.....If I call 'em up for this, their first question would be that "how did I manage to get both connections running simultaneously and get two different IP's?".

Yeah load balancing is something closer to my need,s but not entirely, I need something for "Connection teaming" OR "Modem teaming". I tried a software called Midpoint but its kinda absolete and doesn't have support for Windows XP, but I wasn't aware that even microsoft has got a 'Soft' solution. But still, it's not there for WindowsXP so I gotta try something else.

As you have suggested, I can get it on Linux. I found couple of scripts over the net.
