Low connection speed with Netgear DG834

[link to this post]

Can anyone say why my wired NG DG834 only connects at approx 2944kbs when I my Speedtouch 576 v6wireless router connects at 8128kbs and even my old Speedtouch 330 connects at 8096kbs.

The Netgear is using the latest firmware and on the day of migration connected at 8192kbs but has dropped steadily and now can only get 2944 kbs it seems.

The 8192kbs I acheived with the Netgear was with the old original firmware but I flashed to latest to solve erratic connections.

Sounds like it's faulty.
Netgear routers don't normally sync at a third of the speed that other routers do.
My DG834G is able to sync within a few hundred kbps of my Speedtouch 546.

Are the SNR / margins approx. the same? You haven't, for example, got the Speedtouch routers tweaked to sync at lower margins?

I'm guessing you're on LLU provided ADSL2+, isn't 8128kbps the highest sync available on ADSLmax?

Ade

Giving UKFSN/Entanet a try
DL Sync 4600+ (now 2464 and screwed up by pointless 15db SNR target)
UL Sync 448

Problem sorted.

Complained to AOL I wasnt getting ADSL Max , referred it to BT who phoned 3 days later.
RAS hadn't been increased from old 2Mb so the engineer increased it, my speeds immediately went up to between 3 and 5Mb.

Time to try the Netgear using the same telephone line, extension etc-connected at a steady 8128kps and hasn't lost connection in almost 24 hours now.

Thanks for helping, all help was really appreciated. Cheers.
