Netgear WG602 & Laptop & Palm

[link to this post]

I have a Netgear WG602 that is connected to my Draytek 2200 USB router. The PC that runs the administration of the Netgear has just died.

The Netgear keeps working as expected.

Until I get the main PC repaired I will be using my wifi laptop to access the internet at home.

But I want take my Netgear with me on my travels and use it to link my laptop and my Palm TX. At home I use my Palm TX wifi to link to the Netgear and then use VNC to operate any of my PCs, including my laptop.

I tried just pluging the Cat 5 cable from the Netgear into the laptop but could not get the Palm to connect; it shows the Netgear on scanning but failing on Obtaining an IP address.

How can I get the Netgear to work only from my laptop?

In line with the Installation guide.

I have setup my ethernet connection on my laptop to static IP address 192.168.0.210 with subnet 255.255.255.0.

I have plugged the Netgear into my laptop. All three lights on the Netgear illuminate.

I try to browse to http://192.168.0.227 but get the error message:-

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

What am I doing wrong?

I know nothing about Netgear kit. I had a quick look on

http://www.dslzoneuk.net/adsl_line_stats.php

all the Netgears there seem to respond to 192.168.0.1

Thank you for the link.

I see what you mean but it did not work.

I have tried 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.227 and 192.168.1.1 without success.

I have also connected the Netgear to my laptop with both straight and cross connected cat 5 cable.

Any one else can advise please?

I still have not got my laptop to run my Netgear WAP but have got my laptop connected via another wireless carded pc; router less wireless access.

I would still lik eto have my Netgear WAP running from my laptop.
