I think they're supposed to be working to the same standard, does the Devolo website help www.devolo.co.uk ?

I had an Acer Homeplug fail in warranty. I had bought a pair and they are discontinued. Acer very fairly refunded me the whole cost of both. I bought a pair of Solwise PL-14PE's. Both makes work interchangeably as they should if they conform to the Homeplug standard.

What adaptors do you have? Homeplug adaptors *should* be interchangable with each other in the same way wireless kit from different manufacturers should work - it can be a mixed experience so keep to the same manufacturer if you can. Worth making sure that you actually have "homeplug" adaptors though and which varient. The more recent "powerline" adaptors from netgear although can co-exist with other homeplug adaptors, they do not interoperate with them.

can't remember the name.

I assume different speeds will work with each other, with all plugs just using the speed of the slowest adaptor in the network?
