OK, I posted a while back for help but didn't have the equipment, I do now.
I have this here
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-4670.aspx
There is an instruction manual here http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/wireless-g-broadband-adsl2-modem-router
But I am totally lost. I got to the Wizard & followed that. There was a wizard telling me to select the internet connection type, PPPoE/PPPoA or Dynamic IP Address or Static IP Adress or Bridge mode, I have no idea which one to select. Then there was something after that but I can't remember what it was. Nothing happened after I finished anyway & I'm connected with my adsl modem just now.
I want to make a wireless network as I now have the second pc in another room.
So, is it simple or should I get someone who knows what they're doing to do it.

call your ISP support, that's what you pay them for. Their web pages should give most of the settings, you can also find them on here.
For most ISPs its PPPoA, VCmux, CHAP, IP dynamically allocated by PPP, 0/38 VCI/VP, G.dmt ADSL, username, password, save and restart it.

Maybe I should have explained better, I have no idea whatsoever about networks & routers, I was told it was a case of just following the wizard, I didn't know about settings & have no idea what I'm looking for or what I would be asking my ISP but cheers for replying.

Are your PC's wireless enabled?.

I have no idea, how do I check?
Just to add though, I haven't even tried anything with the new pc, I'm just trying to get the router going at the moment.

In reply to:
or what I would be asking my ISP
Try....
"I have bought a router, how do I set it up." Most ISPs cover this on their web site. Look also on the Reviews section here where you see several screen shots.
you could also ask the Buffalo help line, have you RTFM and looked at what's on the CD ? Their docs are normally fairly good.

In reply to:
have you RTFM
- I have absolutely no idea, however if that's read the full manual, yep, all week before I even attempted it. Have everything connected where it should be, it's the settings I don't know, have asked on the isp help forums though.

Ok, have found this, are all router settings the same or would they be different because that's not my router.

read through http://www.thinkbroadband.com/hardware/reviews/2004/q4/usr-9106.html and other reviews to get a feel for it - look at the pictures !
in most cases you only need setup the ISP username and password, other answers have covered things. Ask specific questions when you hit something you don't understand.
The manual from http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/ looks pretty good.

they are all fairly similar, but why aren't you following the router's own

I am following the manual but when I get to the wizard, I have this & it's here I get stuck cos I don't know what to put on this screen & the one after

how about a status page shot showing what its doing, rather than the setup pages.

|
|

What it's doing?
Actually, thanks for the help but I think I'm just gonna get someone in to do it, it's way to complicated for me.
Thanks again

you're nearly there, we just need to see a status screen that shows if it has connected or what.

Configure your router with a wired connection first get that working then configure the wireless.
Your PC must have a configured Ethernet Connection.
Setup your network on the PC with Windows XP, Network Setup Wizard. Go... My Computer -> Control Panel -> Network Setup Wizard -> Next -> Next -> This computer connects to the internet through a residential gateway
